In a leafy-green corner of Southern Poland is a village so small, you’d be lucky to find it on the map: Kamionna.

On the edge of a forest in Kamionna is the home and workshop of Wojtek Bajor—father, husband, architect, designer and creator of Bajo toys.

Several years ago, Wojtek was so dismayed that he couldn’t find good-quality wooden toys for his infant daughter, that he set about making some himself. Soon enough news about Bajo toys spread around the village, then around the world.

Wojtek’s design philosophy appealed to those seeking the very same things he was: safe, simple wooden toys with good design, made to high ethical and environmental standards.

The form and function of Bajo toys ensured that they were instant classics. Loved by children and those who buy them the world over, Bajo toys make fantastic and well-appreciated gifts.

The wood from which Bajo toys are made is sourced from FSC certified local woodlots and orchards. Bajo wood is quality wood specifically selected and appropriate for quality wooden toy production: Beech, Birch, Sycamore Maple, Oak, Cherry. The growth rings which fascinate children are there to be seen and marveled at in most Bajo toys.

The colour, coatings and adhesives are all certified non-toxic and are sourced from old established companies in neighbouring Germany.

Toy safety is an integral part of the Bajo toy design process, and all Bajo toys conform to the rigorous European Standards EN 71, safety of toys.

Bajo Wood

Wood for Bajo toys comes from local sources. Kamionna is located in the countryside, close to the Carpathian mountains. The woodlots around Kamionna have been well-managed for centuries by local foresters. These woodlots are now certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) for good management practices.

Bajo also uses the wood of old orchards in the region. Every effort is made to use the resources we have in a responsible way, including waste wood, which is used in the heating of the workshop in winter.
