Moltex Nappies: Nappy Sizes and How To Choose The Right Fit

Every baby is different - some have fat legs, some have chunky bums, some have round bellies and some have skinny legs. It makes it pretty tricky to find the perfect nappy. You may find that although your baby is still within the recommended weight range for the size, the next size up is more absorbent and has a better fit, especially at night.

To help you find the perfect nappy size, we offer Moltex nappy sample packs so you can try them out before you buy a full pack or carton. Each sample pack contains two nappies.

Here's our handy guide to all the Moltex nappy sizes.

Why do nappy sizes overlap?

Even though your baby may be in the right weight range, you may find that you need the next size up or down to get the perfect fit.

Usually we suggest that once your baby gets to the top of the recommended weight range, that you switch up to the next size. So a 5kg baby may still fit into the mini size, but you'll get more absorbency in the midi size.

There is a greater overlap in sizes in the larger nappies to take into account that as babies grow, there can be a much bigger discrepancy in ages and shapes. It means that one 15kg baby is fine in the maxi size, but another 15kg baby needs the junior size.

Leaking nappy? How to know when to change nappy sizes

Your baby’s nappy may leak because you’ve got the wrong size nappy. We find that’s the most common cause of leaks and messes.

Have a look at the way the nappy fits on your baby. Are there red marks around baby’s tummy or thighs? Does the nappy feel a little too snug? If you’re nodding your head, it might be time to move to the next size up.

And if you’re getting regular leaks or blowouts, that can also be a sign that you need to move up to a more absorbent, and slightly bigger, nappy.

If there are gaps around baby’s tummy or legs, or the nappy is sitting quite high at the front or the back, that can be a sign that you need to try a smaller size.

Before you commit to a whole pack or carton, you might want to try a nappy sample pack to get the perfect nappy. We ship them free, too.
