Franjo's Kitchen

The Franjo's Kitchen brand was created after an encounter between two new mums, Fran and Jo. Out on a walk with their little ones, they met and started talking to each other while waiting for the intersection light to change.

Fran already had a career in law, while Jo was busy with her own endeavours: running a naturopathy company and making healthy biscuits. Despite being in different professions, they had a mutual love of baking.

Fran was concerned that her baby daughter wasn't gaining enough weight. So she looked online to see if there were any lactation cookie recipes she could try. After a few tries, she found a recipe that were delicious. They were not only delicious, but boosted her milk supply. Her daughter started gaining more weight.

With this success came a brilliant idea. Fran figured Jo could use her naturopathic skills to whip up a healthier version of her nursing cookies. So she pitched the idea, and soon, Franjo's Kitchen lactation cookies were born.

Vegan Lactation Cookies Ingredients

If you’ve been wondering how to increase your breast milk supply, Franjo's delicious vegan lactation cookies are the answer. Their Tanker Toppers are chock full of natural galactagogues, which are ingredients (used for centuries) that may increase breast milk production. Each one serves a vital role not only in helping mums meet their breastfed baby's needs, but also in meeting their own health needs, especially in the early stages of breastfeeding.

Galactagogues include superfood ingredients like fennel, fenugreek, oats, brewers yeast, and flaxseeds.

Fennel

Fennel seeds contain oil that's largely composed of anethole, a phytoestrogen, which helps stimulate lactation. Some studies found that fennel galactogogue therapy resulted to an increase in milk volume, alongside increase in breast milk fat content and infant weight gain. Breast milk fat is important as it doesn't only provide the needed energy, but it's also needed to metabolise many vitamins and help regulate your baby's growth.

Fenugreek

The bioactive components of fenugreek seeds, particularly diosgenin or trigonelline, help boost milk production by increasing prolactin levels. Prolactin is one of the main hormones that stimulate the secretion of breast milk. Fenugreek is also a versatile plant that helps reduce inflammation, aid digestion, and regulate blood sugar levels.

Oats

Oats are a great source of carbohydrates, fibre, proteins, and fat compared to other grains. They're one of the richest sources of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that help support overall health during breastfeeding. They're also loaded with beta glucan, which is a type of soluble fibre considered to help increase the levels of the breastfeeding hormone prolactin.

Brewers Yeast

Brewers yeast is considered a good source of essential nutrients such as protein, minerals, and B vitamins. B vitamins can help milk let down flow more smoothly and also help boost mum's mood and increase her energy levels.

Flaxseeds

Research suggests that flaxseeds have phytoestrogens that can help increase mum's breast milk supply. When phytoestrogens bind to estrogen receptor sites, they increase the amount of estrogen in the blood. This helps stimulate milk production and also lowers bad cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

Free from eggs, dairy and others more!

These egg free and dairy free lactation cookies don't contain wheat, honey, or refined sugar, too. So Franjo's Lactation Cookies are great for vegan mums and expecting mamas who want a healthier pregnancy journey.
